Polygamy Fest

img_4129A Long day of driving took us from Zion to Capitol Reef National Park where we met up with Malia for the ‘Polygamy Fest’. It was close to midnight when we showed up at the blm dispersed camping area to find a couple of people dressed in wedding gowns drinking tequila around a candle lamp. The Polygamy Fest involves canyoneering in the five Wives - some being first descends - while dressed in frumpy wedding attire. The name is more than appropriate and quite funny in the very conservative state of Utah where polygamy persists today under some Mormon fundamentalist groups.

I will be heading out to mountain and spend memorial day weekend at somewhere nowhere! 30 miles over two days and three nights at San Bernadino, San Gorgonia traversing 9 peaks… sounds scary! Wondering how far you are from San Bernadino! Well, we all enjoy flow smells and sore legs and blisters and food bars (maybe not you, I will live off on bars for a few days!)
