I spend the weekend in Joshua Tree climbing with Janet, Chris, Mike and Nate. This was my 2nd only attempt at crack and I was slightly worried about level of climbing involved. The rest of our party was all accomplished with the task at hand but as climbers are, they were very accommodating towards the newbie. I warmed up on a great route called Sexy Grandma before hitting the crack on Double Cross. Successively jamming my hands, fists and feet into the crack I slowly made my way up the face with Nate belaying from the top. After that we moved on to the Rollerball formation where Rollercoaster (5.11b) got the better of me. Joshua Tree truly is a spectacular climbing destination with thousands of routes all around. Even on the very popular President’s Day weekend we had most of the rocks all to ourselves.
