Barefoot on the beach – our 3rd annual New Year’s party – was once again a great success. At the last minute the weather took a turn for the better and allowed us a couple of hours of low tide for a black-tie but barefoot event on the sand with the waves literally lapping at our feet. Allen and Tania cooked delicious oxtail stew while Mareli and I were shaking Pimm’s cocktails for everybody. Since then we climbed the beautiful Babilonstoring mountain and did an overnight trip to Cape Town. This year we were lucky enough not have any baboon problems and the troop that normally terrorize our neighborhood stayed put in the mountains. Never a lack of interesting creatures though - I almost ran over this pretty grasshopper outside the house. Today we are getting ready for our flight back to Johannesburg and then I am off to New York for 4 days before arriving in Los Angeles on the 16th of January.
