Babilonstoring

img_2765At 1163m or 3839ft Babilonstoring does not sound like a big deal, but one’s perspective change quickly when there is no trail to the top. The manager of Morgenson farm invited us onto their property which allowed for easy access to the ‘trailhead’. Shortly after 7:30 Mareli and Andre x 2 were making good progress up the fynbos covered slopes until we hit our first baboonpath a mere 200m from the bottom. Progress slowed to a crawl as even the baboonpaths would appear with ever decreasing intervals until we were in full-out bundubashing mode. The view on top was spectacular and Mom’s delicious sandwiches and selection of biltong, droewors and chocolate was much appreciated. Mareli soon discovered that Toblerone goes very well with Grand Marnier, but only while the Tobler is still lingering in your mouth - we all tried and agreed. Next we planted a geocache called HeksieToringtand (heksie is Afrikaans for ‘little witch’ and Toringtand means ‘tower tooth’). The clouds rolled in and we headed down the mountain. A fantastic adventure.
