In and Around Johannesburg
Hanging in Johies for the last two weeks has been a far cry from my usual mobile lifestyle. Except for a trip to Pretoria to see my grandmother I have not ventured far from home and I am surprised at how quickly I got unaccustomed to moving around. Also a very productive two weeks with big celebrations for my dad’s 60th birthday and helping my sister Mareli and my mom Louise with various errands around town. Johannesburg is an adventure itself – the big bad economic heart of South Africa but at the same time a very vibrant and exciting place once you figured out how to distinguish between a traffic light hawker and a potential hijacker.
Things are about to change though. On Saturday I am attending my good friend Lydia’s wedding in Heidelberg and on Sunday my dad and I are going to the bush for two days. Later next week Mareli and I are departing on a weeklong trip down the coast to Hermanus. I will be using my live tracking contraption a lot and if all goes well I should be able to post pictures of some African wildlife, perhaps of the large feline variety.

Hello from cold Houston. Glad to see you haven’t disappeared off the face of the earth now that you’re back in the Southern Hemisphere. Say hi to the seester and parents for me and make sure you post any photos you might snap of those big South African pussy-gatos.
