Camping In Mud

img_4607I left North Wash in the rain and reached Hanksville just before sunset. From there I continued West through the interesting terrain leading towards Torrey. The landscape consists of small mud hills with rock towers jutting out behind which make you feel like either Flash Gordon, Dracula or both might surprise you around the next corner. It was almost dark and I decided to camp on the first solid-looking dirt road. To my surprise the grey colored road of my choosing was not gravel but very slippery Utah mud. I quickly switched over to 4wd (thanks to the F250’s easy switch on the go dial) and hit the gas to keep my momentum up. The truck and trailer was sliding all over the place, but I made it to firmer ground where I had to stay for the night. This morning the whole procedure had to be repeated, but this time in reverse. As there was no turning around I had to back the trailer up at high speed through the muddy section.

That grey colored road is clay! You were lucky to get out! Sounds like another adventure. Did you find any sunshine? I’ve posted my TRs from last week- using lots of your pics. Loved the Adobe Swale pics especially!

Right now camping on the edge of the latest storm brewing in central Utah with enough sunshine to run the computer for my TR (tax return) - yuugh!
