Cloudbase and Beyond
Flying of Packsaddle in Texas today. Very light winds with a big cloud hovering above the mountain and lots of shade out front… tricky launch. I waited for 30 minutes - hooked in and ready to go - before a cycle came through. Sweet climb to base at 7800 ft before a slight miscalculation on my part got me sucked right into the cloud. Luckily I dont mind being in the White Room and snapped some great pictures after popping out the side at 8800 ft. Gavin joined me in the air and Riss offered to drive if we wanted to go XC. 3:30 pm is rather late to start an XC flight, but we went for it anyway. We hopped from cloud to cloud until Gavin got a bit low North of Llano and landed. A low save got me back on track and I landed in San Saba at 6:30 pm - 42 miles.
