Gat innie botter geval
That is Afrikaans for….. Life is good!
And good it is to the extreme. I arrived in Sun Valley Idaho this afternoon and stopped by the ranger station for camping information. They pointed me to a spot 8 miles north of town where I would find a dumping station and a couple of forest service campgrounds. The idea is to stay one night in a ‘pay-for’ facility while scoping out the long term or free camping spots. I filled my fresh water tank and headed off towards the closest camp ground.
Made a wrong turn and had to back-that-thing-up on a long curvy road, At the Murdock cg a friendly camp host offered to move another camper to a smaller space to make room for my rig. I mentioned dispersed camping and she pointed me to the sweetest spot.
- Brochure-like view of the mountains and river
- Between some trees, but not too many
- Very private and quiet, but easy access on good gravel road
- Good solar exposure to keep those new golf cart batteries charged
- A gap between the trees at 124 deg magnetic azimuth, for the satellite internet
- Full Cingular Edge coverage - when I don’t want to bother with the satellite
- 8 miles from one of the premier flying, hiking, skiing destinations in the US if not the world
- Did I mention the sound of the river that runs through my campsite?
- Right next to a huge nice open field for launching the paramotor
- Close to fresh water and a dump station if needed
- And no cost… nada. I can stay for 16 days if I wanted
Aaaah…. Life is good.
