Glass-Off at Hat Creek Rim

Working on my gps software the whole day, I was glad to see a hang glider pilot arrive in the LZ late afternoon. Page is a local and predicts good glass-off conditions to kick in within the hour as we head up the hill with another local pilot Roger. On top we met two other South Africans, Jasper and Roedolf. They are working on the KAT project in South Africa and visiting the HCRO. Jasper also flies hang gliders and although he does not have his glider with him, they are here to check out the flying site. Page’s predictions were spot on as we launch in the smoothest evening glass-off you can imagine.

Sounds fantastic!
I hope you are a good cook!

A nice finish to a good day!

Hi Jr.

I’m glad to see that you have some company every once in a while (human and sniff-in-the-nighters!??). Anything is better than nothing. I’m worried that I’ll have to partake in your rehabilitation from “savage to human” when you get back from this trip. Luckily I see that you are still “can like to speak-a-de-English”, and that is always a good sign!
It sounds wonderful and I would love to come and join you at some stage (I think you need to extend your trip with a year or so…- I know you’ve been thinking of doing that?)
Anyway, enjoy everything. I’ll send some pictures of the house soon…

Love ya

Well Jr….Just wanted to let you know we went to the Royal Hawaiian on Saturday. After introducing some friends to the Lapu-Lapu…..they were non-believers at first but soon found out slurred speech and slow brain response actually makes for good converstaions.

The place is under new ownership and they are renovating and turning it into more of a club….not too much for my liking….but then again, the place is just not the same when we can’t walk back to your place to have coffee afterwards.

Be safe out there!
